## Synopsis

Unsupervised (2012) is a American adult animated comedy created by David Hornsby, Scott Marder and Rob Rosell for FX. Its central pair, 15-year-old best friends Gary Garrison (Justin Long) and Joel Zymanski (David Hornsby), try to navigate teenage life while also trying to do the right thing without any parental supervision. Their small-town high school world is populated by friends and rivals such as Megan McKinley (Kristen Bell) and Darius Jenkins (Romany Malco), with Fred Armisen voicing Martin. The engine of each episode is the gap between the boys' good intentions and their inexperience, so schemes about girls, status and money spiral into awkward and crude trouble. The thirteen-episode run plays as a single season of loosely connected misadventures rather than a case-of-the-week format. The tone is irreverent and sardonic, with a raunchy edge and a warm undercurrent of loyalty between the friends. Fans of Big Mouth, Superbad and Bob's Burgers will find resonance in its blend of adolescent frankness and animated absurdity.
