## Synopsis

Durarara!! (2010-2016) is a Japanese animated supernatural crime series created for MBS and a production of Brain's Base, a shonen-leaning anime built around an ensemble of Tokyo teenagers and adults. Mikado Ryugamine (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) moves to the crowded Ikebukuro district at a friend's invitation and is quickly pulled into a web of street gangs, underground information brokers and rumors about the Headless Rider, a motorcycle-riding figure of urban legend. Around him move the enigmatic informant Izaya Orihara (Hiroshi Kamiya), the bartender-like rider Celty Sturluson (Miyuki Sawashiro), and the volatile Shizuo Heiwajima (Daisuke Ono), whose paths keep colliding as the district's tensions escalate into open chaos. The engine is conspiracy and reputation: characters chase information, favors and revenge across overlapping storylines told from many viewpoints, so each episode layers another perspective onto the same city. The series runs two seasons, the second expanding the cast and the rumor network, and it moves between brooding night streets and bursts of kinetic brawling and dark comedy. Its tone is stylish, restless and quietly melancholic, with a strong sense of a city full of hidden lives. Fans of Baccano!, Kekkaishi and Mawaru Penguindrum will find resonance in its supernatural undercurrent and interlocking urban stories.
