## Synopsis

Lucky Star (2007) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy produced by Kyoto Animation and broadcast on Chiba TV, Teletama and RKK. Its engine is deliberately small: anime and chocolate loving Izumi Konata and her friends Kagami Hiiragi, Tsukasa Hiiragi and Miyuki Takara pass their days on homework, cooking, video games and idle chatter after school. Instead of a plot, each episode strings together loose vignettes of ordinary routines, where a trip to the store or a study session becomes an occasion for gentle banter. The single 24-episode season is episodic, so scenes can be watched in any order. The show is set in a contemporary Japanese high school and carries a calm, breezy, self-aware tone, with frequent parody of anime and otaku habits. Its humor is warm and low stakes rather than frantic. Fans of K-On!, Azumanga Daioh and Hidamari Sketch will find the same comfortable everyday rhythm and affection for school life.
