## Synopsis

This three-part documentary retrospective traces the life and silent-era career of Buster Keaton, the stone-faced comedy pioneer whose daring stunts and deadpan persona made him one of cinema's great physical performers. Drawing on surviving film clips, archival photographs, and recollections from collaborators and family, the series rebuilds his rise from vaudeville apprenticeship through the independent short films and feature comedies he produced in the 1920s. Its warm, admiring tone treats slapstick as disciplined craft, lingering on the engineering behind his gags and the nerve required to perform them without doubles. The programme also addresses the hard turn his career took when studio control eroded his independence, and the long years of obscurity that followed before critics reassessed his work. Wry, nostalgic, and reflective rather than sensational, it suits viewers drawn to film history, classic comedy, and the mechanics of early Hollywood. Its emotional pull comes less from melodrama than from watching a gifted artist's quiet resilience and the ways a reputation can be lost and recovered.
