## Synopsis

Ai Yori Aoshi (2002-2003) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series produced by J.C.STAFF and broadcast on Fuji TV. Set in contemporary Japan, it follows college student Kaoru Hanabishi (voiced by Soichiro Hoshi), whose fiancee Aoi Sakuraba (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi) must remain a secret because of family complications. Kaoru lives in a mansion with a houseful of attractive roommates, including Miyabi Kagurazaki (voiced by Akiko Hiramatsu) and Tina Foster (voiced by Satsuki Yukino), who all have feelings for him. The engine of the show is simple: Kaoru wants to keep faith with his beloved while being repeatedly drawn into awkward and steamy situations at home and on campus, and each episode is built from everyday misunderstandings, jealousy, and small domestic mishaps. Across its two seasons and 36 episodes, the series moves at a gentle, episodic pace in the manner of a harem comedy with slice of life warmth. Its tone is playful and flirtatious, with a sincere undercurrent about loyalty and commitment. Fans of Love Hina, Ranma 1/2 and To Heart will find a familiar mix of romantic comedy, fanservice and household ensemble charm.
