## Synopsis

Another (2012) is a Japanese animated supernatural horror mystery series produced by P.A.WORKS for KNB, adapted from the novel by Yukito Ayatsuji. Transfer student Kouichi Sakakibara (voiced by Atsushi Abe) arrives at a new middle school and quickly senses that something is badly wrong in his class, a dread tied to a mysterious, silent girl, Mei Misaki (voiced by Natsumi Takamori), and to a secret no student will speak about. Kouichi's engine is simple and gripping: he wants to understand the silence around him, and every attempt to ask questions pushes him deeper into a web of suspicious classmates and whispered rules. Each episode peels back another layer of the mystery, building a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere in a single school building where friendships and loyalties shift under the pressure. The series runs for one twelve-episode season, told as one continuing story where order matters. Its tone is eerie, brooding and often harrowing, with bursts of graphic horror and a steady current of grief. Fans of Higurashi When They Cry and Ghost Hunt will find resonance in its slow-burn school dread and its buried, supernatural secret.
