## Synopsis

The Steve Harvey Show (1996-2002) is a US multi-camera sitcom created by Winifred Hervey for The WB. Comedian Steve Harvey stars as Steve Hightower, a former R&B star down on his luck who lands a music teacher job at Washington High School, an inner-city school in Chicago. His unorthodox classroom methods clash with the rules of the institution and win over students who would otherwise tune him out. Cedric the Entertainer plays Cedric Robinson, his close friend and sparring partner, while Merlin Santana plays student Romeo Santana, and Wendy Raquel Robinson appears as Regina Greer. Across six seasons and 122 episodes, the show is a standalone case-of-the-week sitcom built around light comedic situations, with each half-hour episode centered on a new school problem, a staff conflict, or a personal scheme. The tone is warm, breezy and comforting, with a steady heart beneath the jokes about ambition, friendship and the struggle to make a difference in a community under pressure. Set in late 1990s Chicago, it sits in the tradition of American family-friendly school comedies, and fans of Welcome Back, Kotter, Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will find the same mix of charm, rivalry and classroom mischief.
