## Synopsis

King David (2012) is a Brazilian historical drama series created by Vivian de Oliveira for Record. Leonardo Brício plays David, the youngest of seven brothers in Bethlehem, who is kept as a household servant and tending his father Jesse's flock while his brothers serve as warriors for King Saul. Renata Dominguez plays Bate-Seba, Maria Ribeiro plays Mical and Gracindo Júnior plays Saul, whose court becomes the arena where David's ambition, faith and loyalties are tested. The engine of the series is a young man's climb through jealousy, rivalry and political danger toward a throne he was never expected to hold, with each episode weaving court maneuvering and personal entanglements into a single continuing story. Told across one season of thirty episodes, it carries the grand, earnest register of a Brazilian telenovela, with melodramatic romance, lavish costume spectacle and reverent religious weight. Its atmosphere is that of ancient Israel rendered in sun-bleached stone, tents and palaces. Fans of The Bible and Joseph will find resonance in its blend of scripture, royal intrigue and sweeping faith-driven drama.
