## Synopsis

Saving Hope (2012-2017) is a Canadian supernatural medical drama series created by Morwyn Brebner and Malcolm MacRury for CTV. Surgeon Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) falls into a coma and, in spirit form, wanders the corridors of Hope-Zion Hospital, unsure whether he is a ghost or a figment of his own imagination. His fiancee, fellow surgeon Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance), struggles with shock while the hospital staff, including Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Chan) and Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies), races through emergency cases and difficult operations. The engine of the show is the tension between Charlie's wish to be heard and the clinical urgency of every patient who arrives in critical condition, with each episode built around a medical case that mirrors the family and romantic stakes on the ward. Running five seasons and eighty-five episodes, it is a serialized ensemble show with an ongoing personal arc rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in contemporary Toronto, it blends the crisp pace of a hospital drama with an eerie, wistful register. Fans of Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer and Medium will find resonance in its emotional blend of medicine, grief and the supernatural.
