## Synopsis

Accel World (2012) is a Japanese anime series produced by SUNRISE and broadcast on TOKYO MX, a single-season run of 24 episodes, each about 24 minutes. A short, overweight student named Arita Haruyuki (voiced by Yuki Kaji) uses the Neuro Link, a successor to the Nerve Gear, to escape the disappointments of his real life. His talent in the virtual world draws the attention of Kuroyuki-hime (Sachika Misawa), a popular and formidable classmate who introduces him to the Brain Burst, a hidden program that accelerates perception and enables fierce duels between players. Haruyuki wants to be seen as more than the boy who gets pushed around at school, and each episode pits him against rivals in a virtual arena where every battle carries real consequences for his sense of self. Supporting figures like Ash Roller (Kenichi Suzumura) and Kakei Mihaya (Ayako Kawasumi) add rivalry and loyalty to the mix. The tone mixes youthful energy with wistful, lonely undercurrents about bullying and belonging, shaped by a near-future technological setting that feels like a Tokyo school life pushed into a digital battleground. Fans of Sword Art Online, Log Horizon and Summer Wars will find resonance in its blend of virtual combat, teen friendship and an outsider's climb.
