## Synopsis

Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord (2012) is a Colombian crime drama series created by Carlos Moreno for Caracol TV, a Spanish-language telenovela-style production. Andrés Parra plays Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, a natural business mind who slips from petty crime into the cocaine trade and builds an empire, with his family and loyal lieutenants orbiting him. Christian Tappan as Gonzalo Gaviria and Angie Cepeda as Regina Parejo sit among the principal figures tied to his ambitions and risks. The engine is simple and relentless: a man who wants power and wealth keeps colliding with the jails, rivals, and political enemies that stand in his way. Each episode moves through deals, betrayals, and executions as his criminal life spills into politics, including a seat in Congress. The series runs as one continuing story across a single season of 113 episodes, with each installment running about 45 minutes. Set in late twentieth century Colombia, it pairs the look of a sprawling melodrama with the grit of a narco saga. Its tone is tense, bleak, and operatic, and its theme of ambition corrupting power recalls fans of Narcos and Breaking Bad, who will find the same appetite for a criminal empire's rise and fall.
