## Synopsis

Undercover is a Bulgarian crime drama that follows a young man from the Sofia suburbs who has been schooled since childhood in lying and is recruited as the country's first undercover police officer. He is sent to penetrate the criminal organisation of a wealthy, powerful businessman, and must maintain a convincing double life among gangsters, corrupt associates and people who would kill him if they discovered his real allegiance. The series builds its tension from the constant risk of exposure, the strain of living a false identity, and an emotionally dangerous entanglement that complicates every loyalty. Its atmosphere is gritty, tense and morally heavy, with street-level violence and a pervasive paranoia about who can be trusted when the enemy may sit inside the police itself. Told as a continuing serialized saga rather than self-contained cases, it sustains a slow-burning intensity across its run. Set in contemporary Sofia, it evokes a post-transition Balkan underworld where institutions are compromised and personal survival demands constant performance. Viewers drawn to undercover thrillers, mafia infiltration stories and bleak character-driven crime will find its unease and moral weight compelling.
