## Synopsis

Leopold the Cat (1975-1987) is a Soviet animated children's series created by Arkadiy Khayt and produced by Ekran for Central Television USSR. Its gentle hero is Leopold, a pacifist, intelligent cat who never leaves home without his bow tie, even while swimming. Rather than fight back, he meets the constant provocations of two mischievous mice, Grey and White, who keep trying to lure him into trouble. Each short episode is built around these small comic confrontations, with the mice's taunts and Leopold's calm refusals driving the humor. His catchphrase, a plea to live in friendship, anchors the series' warm moral center. The show is a brief, eleven-episode run with a playful, cozy register and a clear message of peace. Its hand-drawn look and simple storytelling reflect the traditions of Soviet children's animation from the late Cold War period. Fans of Tom and Jerry and Winnie the Pooh will find a similar mix of gentle slapstick and kindly innocence here.
