## Synopsis

Bastard!! (1992-1993) is a Japanese animated fantasy series created as an original video animation, produced by Anime International Company and Shueisha. Its anti-hero is Dark Schneider (voiced by Kazuki Yao), a sorcerer who once tried to conquer the world and is pulled out of a fifteen-year imprisonment to stop four lords from reviving the old god Anthrasax. Ninja Master Gara, Lars and Tiara Nort Yoko (voiced by Yuka Koyama) orbit his reluctant crusade, and a narrator (voiced by Steiv Dixon) frames the chaos. The engine is simple: a brash, arrogant sorcerer must overcome his own past and a conspiracy of powerful rivals before the destroyer wakes. Across six thirty-minute episodes the story moves through magic duels, sword battles and crude comic bravado in a world built on the ruins of a lost civilization. The tone mixes irreverent humor with dark fantasy menace and some ecchi excess, with the mood of classic sword and sorcery. Fans of Record of Lodoss War, Berserk and Slayers will find the same mix of swords, sorcery and swaggering heroics in this short, self-contained adaptation of the manga.
