## Synopsis

Broken Blade (2014) is a Japanese anime series produced by XEBEC and Production I.G and broadcast on TOKYO MX, a 12-episode science fantasy mecha series. Rygart Arrow, an un-sorcerer who cannot use the quartz that powers everyone else in the continent of Cruzon, is the protagonist, voiced by Soichiro Hoshi. Chiwa Saito voices Sigyn Erster, and Marina Inoue voices Narvi as the story moves around them. The engine of the show is Rygart's struggle to fit into a society built on quartz magic while the brewing war between the Kingdom of Krisna and the nation of Athens draws closer. Each episode mixes battlefield clashes with political maneuvering, as the ancient Golem Rygart pilots becomes a weapon that rival powers want to control. Told as one continuing story across a single season, the series balances large-scale robot combat with quieter scenes of court intrigue and loyalty. Its tone is earnest and adventurous, with a sense of underdog defiance and rising stakes. Set in an invented fantasy world with no fixed calendar, it carries the spirit of shonen mecha and a shonen anime tradition. Fans of Gundam Wing, Code Geass and Full Metal Panic will find familiar pleasures in its blend of war, machines and young heroism.
