## Synopsis

Deception (2013) is an American network mystery drama created by Liz Heldens for NBC, running a single eleven-episode season before its cancellation. Meagan Good plays detective Joanna Locasto, who goes undercover after the murder of her best friend, drawing her into the polished, secretive world of a wealthy household. Laz Alonso co-stars as Will Moreno, a partner whose loyalties and methods add pressure to every step of the investigation. Victor Garber, Tate Donovan and Marin Hinkle play members of the Bowers family, whose charm and private histories give the detective a long list of suspects. Each episode peels back another layer of lies, as Joanna balances her cover with the grief that drives her. The series is built as a serialized whodunit, where the central mystery unfolds across the season rather than in standalone cases. Its tone is tense and polished, with a melancholic undercurrent of loss and a steady sense of paranoia inside an affluent setting. Fans of Scandal, The Killing and Broadchurch will find resonance in its blend of procedural detail, domestic secrets and a grieving investigator at its center.
