## Synopsis

The Tempest (La Tempestad, 2013) is a Mexican telenovela created by Humberto 'Kiko' Olivieri and Liliana Abud for Las Estrellas. Ximena Navarrete and William Levy star as the protagonists, with Captain Damián Fabré (William Levy) at the center of a romance that is pulled apart by rivalry. Iván Sánchez, Laura Carmine, and Mariana Seoane play the antagonists whose schemes drive the story forward, while Daniela Romo and María Sorté add established telenovela presence. The series is a single season of 122 episodes, built as a long serialized melodrama in which each episode pushes the lovers toward and away from one another through deception, family loyalty, and reversals of fortune. Its tone is passionate and heightened, with lush romantic sentiment and a steady drumbeat of conflict. Set in contemporary Mexico, it fits the tradition of Latin American romance melodrama, and fans of La Tormenta, Rosalinda, and Marimar will find the same emotional appetite for long, sweeping romantic suffering.
