## Synopsis

Ani*Kuri15 (2007-2008) is a Japanese anime anthology of fifteen one-minute animated shorts produced for NHK BS1. Created as companion pieces to the AniKuri program and as filler between scheduled broadcasts, the series spans three short seasons of five episodes each. Each segment is directed by a different filmmaker, so the look, humor and mood shift from one minute to the next, with a playful, offbeat sensibility that moves through slice of life, school life, martial arts gags, robots and supernatural whimsy. Because every short stands alone, nothing requires viewing in order, and the fun comes from sampling a quick burst of creative variety. Several well-known animation studios contributed to the project, which gives it the feel of a showcase for different artistic voices rather than a single continuing story. Principal voice cast includes Jouji Nakata, Mako Hyodo, Porsche Okite and Yuki Chiba. Fans of Robot Chicken, Love, Death & Robots and short form anime collections will find resonance in its bite sized, experimental spirit.
