## Synopsis

Mob City (2013) is a limited series created by Frank Darabont for TNT, an American cable crime drama that ran for a single six-episode season. Jon Bernthal plays Joe Teague, an ex-boxer drawn into the feud between Los Angeles police and the mob, alongside Milo Ventimiglia as Ned Stax, a cop working the streets, and Neal McDonough as Captain William Parker, the department figure whose ambitions cut across the criminal underworld. Edward Burns appears as the gangster Ben Siegel, and Robert Knepper as Sid Rothman. The engine of the show is the tangle of favors, bribes and betrayals that binds honest cops to the men they are meant to arrest, with each episode turning up another pressure point in a city obsessed with glamour. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, the series moves through nightclubs, back rooms, police stations and sunlit boulevards, its violence sudden and its style deliberately heightened. Its tone is brooding and seductive, a neo noir drawn from real-life accounts of the period. Fans of L.A. Confidential, Boardwalk Empire and Gangs of New York will find resonance in its corrupt power, moral grime and period atmosphere.
