## What critics say

Critics broadly acclaim Still Game as a cult Scottish sitcom whose sharp Glasgow dialogue and affectionate portrayal of its pensioner leads kept it highly rated across most of its run, with a noticeable dip in later seasons.

## Synopsis

Still Game follows Jack and Victor, two retired friends who have spent their lives in the same Glasgow neighbourhood and now pass their days in its shared flats, cafes and street corners. Their routines are built around small ambitions, petty rivalries, mischief and the constant friction of old age, with a supporting cast of neighbours, acquaintances and local figures who keep the stories moving. The humour is irreverent and quick, driven by sharp Glasgow dialogue, deadpan exchanges and physical comedy that rarely strays into cruelty. Beneath the jokes runs real affection for loyalty, pride and the bonds that survive decades of bickering. The mood is warm, nostalgic and often wry, capturing working-class resilience without sentimentality. Across its long run the show shifts between broad farce and quieter moments of companionship, offering a comforting, funny portrait of friendship in later life. Viewers come for the voices, the characters and a sense of community that feels lived-in and familiar.
