## Synopsis

The Innocent Man (2012) is a South Korean national-television romantic melodrama created for KBS2 and produced by iHQ. Its protagonist, a self-made medical student named Kang Ma-ru (Song Joong-ki), and an aspiring anchorwoman, Seo Eun-gi (Moon Chae-won), share a friendship that forms the emotional core of the series. Their dreams of careers in medicine and broadcast journalism are tested when a fateful tragedy reshapes both their lives. Supporting principal characters include Han Jae-hee (Park Si-yeon), whose family's wealth and power complicate the romance, and Park Jae-gil (Lee Kwang-soo), a figure entangled in the fallout. The engine of the series is class difference, a hidden past, and the slow unraveling of who wronged whom, told across twenty hour-long episodes in a single continuing storyline. Set in contemporary South Korea, the drama moves through hospital corridors, newsrooms and affluent households, with a melancholic yet hopeful register. Its mix of romance, amnesia and revenge gives it the feel of a classic k-drama. Fans of Sky Castle, Crash Landing on You and The Glory will find resonance in its intimate heartbreak and class-conscious storytelling.
