## Synopsis

Copper (2012-2013) is an American period crime drama created by Tom Fontana and Will Rokos for BBC America. Tom Weston-Jones plays Irish immigrant policeman Kevin Corcoran, a rugged officer trying to keep the peace in the Five Points neighborhood of 1860s Manhattan while searching for answers about the disappearance of his wife and the death of his daughter. Anastasia Griffith as Elizabeth Haverford and Franka Potente as Eva Heissen bring their own tangled loyalties to the story, while Kyle Schmid's Robert Morehouse embodies the entanglement of power and money. Each season pairs the grit of street-level policing with a larger serialized mystery, following Corcoran through gang wars, political graft, brothels, and the fractured social tensions of a city still reeling from the civil war. The engine is Corcoran's stubborn pursuit of the truth against a city that rewards silence. The tone is gritty, brooding and atmospheric, with raw physical violence and a melancholy sense of loss. Fans of Boardwalk Empire, Peaky Blinders and Deadwood will find resonance in its rich period detail, morally compromised characters and lawless urban atmosphere. The show ran for two seasons and 23 episodes before its cancellation left the central mystery open.
