## Synopsis

Mr. Belvedere (1985-1990) is an American sitcom created by Gwen Davenport for ABC, running six seasons and 117 episodes. Christopher Hewett plays Lynn Belvedere, a precise and dignified butler who takes a housekeeping position with the family of George Owens, played by Bob Uecker, a good-natured man whose household is noisy and chaotic. Marsha Owens (Ilene Graff) keeps the home running while her children Kevin (Rob Stone), Heather (Tracy Wells) and Wesley (Brice Beckham) test the newcomer's patience at every turn. The engine of the series is the friction between Belvedere's formal manners and the family's easygoing disorder, with each episode built around everyday domestic situations, small disputes and a recurring neighbor feud that keeps the comedy rolling. Shorter episodes move briskly and the tone stays breezy, warm and gently witty rather than edgy. Set in a present-day American suburban home of the 1980s, the show is a light family comedy whose charm rests on its deadpan butler and the affectionate, lived-in dynamic of its household. Fans of Who's the Boss, The Nanny and Full House will find similar comfort in its domestic comedy.
