## Synopsis

The Saint (1962-1969) is a British adventure crime series created by Leslie Charteris for ITV1. Roger Moore plays Simon Templar, a sophisticated, debonair outlaw who recovers ill-gotten wealth and redistributes it to those in need, a modern-day Robin Hood moving through a string of self-contained episodes. Each hour-long story pits him against crooks, swindlers and corrupt figures, with Arnold Diamond as the wily Colonel Latignant on the trail of his cleverness. The engine is the cat-and-mouse game between a charming thief and the authorities, with plenty of ingenious schemes, glamorous settings and witty banter. Across six seasons and 118 episodes the tone stays breezy and playful, with a wry, debonair charm that rewards casual viewing. Fans of Arsène Lupin, The Avengers and Robin Hood will find resonance in its gentlemanly larceny and sly, tongue-in-cheek heroics.
