## Synopsis

Missing (2003-2006) is a Canadian-produced psychic crime procedural series created by Glenn Davis and William Laurin, broadcast on Lifetime in the United States. Caterina Scorsone plays Jess Mastriani, a young woman who wanted nothing more than to take over her parents' restaurant in Indiana until a lightning strike gives her visions of missing people. She becomes a consultant to the FBI and is eventually hired full-time and trained as an agent, working out of the bureau's Washington, D.C. office. Her by-the-book nature often collides with her partner's looser methods, creating friction that drives the team's dynamic. Each case begins with a fragmented vision that Jess must translate into concrete leads, so the investigations move through interviews, records, and field work toward finding someone who has disappeared. The series runs for three seasons of case-of-the-week episodes, with a few season-long threads building the team's relationships. Its tone is earnest and accessible, with suspense rising from the urgency of the search rather than gore. Fans of The Medium, Medium and The Mentalist will find a similar blend of psychic intuition and procedural investigation, set in the practical world of federal law enforcement.
