## What critics say

Critics saw Drawn Together as a crude, irreverent parody of reality television and animation tropes, with its shock humor and cameo-driven gags praised for bite but faulted for uneven writing and reliance on offense.

## Synopsis

Drawn Together follows a cast of animated characters drawn from different cartoon worlds, forced to share a house while cameras document their every move in the style of a reality competition. Its tone is brash, cynical, and deliberately outrageous, built on sharp parody of reality television, celebrity culture, and the tropes of the cartoons its cast comes from. Jokes arrive fast and often cross boundaries of taste, with a willingness to offend that defines its appeal for viewers who enjoy cynical comedy. Characters are caricatures with clashing egos, and the household dynamics generate constant friction, betrayal, and absurd escalation. Beneath the crudeness is a steady satire of how television manufactures drama and turns personalities into commodities. The series aired on Comedy Central from 2004 to 2007 and was cancelled before its story could reach any resolution, leaving its chaotic ensemble dynamic unfinished. Viewers who want a loud, unapologetic animated comedy with a mean streak will find it a pointed piece of 2000s television satire.
