## Synopsis

Freddy's Nightmares (1988-1990) is a American syndicated horror anthology series created by Wes Craven and Jeff Freilich for Syndication. Robert Englund returns as Freddy Krueger, the sinister killer from the Nightmare on Elm Street films, who now hosts each hour-long episode as a macabre storyteller. Rather than stalking dreams himself, he introduces a fresh self-contained tale about ordinary residents of Springwood, the fictional town where the films were set, whose lives tilt into evil and death. Across two seasons and forty-four episodes, each story is built around a different cast of guest actors, among them William Frankfather, Kyle Chandler, Lori Petty and Dick Miller, and the drama turns on bad choices, greed and cruelty meeting grisly comeuppance. The tone is campy and gleefully grim, with sardonic host asides undercutting the horror. Fans of Tales from the Crypt, The Twilight Zone and the original A Nightmare on Elm Street will find resonance in its blend of slasher menace, morality-tale structure and dark humor. Each episode stands alone, making it an easy pick for a late-night horror sampler.
