## Synopsis

Nodame Cantabile (2007-2010) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series created as a Fuji TV broadcast adaptation of a manga, following the classical music world of a top Tokyo conservatory. Shinichi Chiaki (voiced by Tomokazu Seki) is a fastidious first class pianist who dreams of conquering Europe but is held back by a fear of flying. He collides with Megumi Noda, known as Nodame (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi), an untidy and seemingly aimless student whose raw, unschooled playing leaves him stunned, and who promptly moves into the apartment next door, smitten with him. Their dynamic fuels most episodes: Chiaki's rigid standards clash with Nodame's exuberant, slapstick antics, while classmates, rivals and teachers push both toward their musical ambitions. The series runs across three seasons and forty-five episodes, mostly standalone comic episodes threaded with a continuing romance and career arc. Its tone is bright, playful and warm, with classical pieces woven throughout to give the comedy an emotional lift. Fans of Honey and Clover, Beck and Your Lie in April will find a similar blend of music, youthful yearning and gentle absurdity.
