## Synopsis

Melrose Place (1992-1999) is an American primetime soap opera series created by Darren Star for FOX. Set in a brownstone apartment complex on Melrose Place in Los Angeles, the show follows a group of young adults whose romances, careers and rivalries collide under one roof. Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) is the manipulative career woman whose schemes ripple through the building, while Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro), Matt Fielding (Doug Savant), Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett) and Allison Parker (Courtney Thorne-Smith) tangle in love triangles, professional ambitions and secret affairs. Each season is a seven-season serialized soap, built from weekly episodes of romantic reversals, shifting alliances and dramatic confrontations over shared hallways and pool decks. Its tone is glossy, sudsy and sensational, with a steady stream of sex, scheming and betrayal that fans of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Dynasty will recognize. The mood is breezy and melodramatic, capturing the nineties Los Angeles sheen of ambition and status. Fans of glossy young adult soaps will find the appeal lies in its relentless emotional entanglements and the feeling that no one in the building is safe.
