## Synopsis

Good Eats (1999-2021) is a US Food Network cooking education series created by Alton Brown. Host Alton Brown carries nearly every one of its 265 episodes across sixteen seasons, explaining where ingredients come from, why simple preparations succeed, and how culinary customs took shape. Each episode is built around a single dish or piece of equipment, with Brown unpacking the chemistry behind it, interviewing guests such as dietician Caroline Connell, cooking technician Sally Bernhardt and butcher Joe Illescas, and then working through the preparation step by step. The engine of the show is curiosity: a question about why bread rises or why meat browns becomes a lesson in cause and effect. Brown punctuates the lessons with surreal skits, theatrical asides and absurdist interludes that give the series a playful, irreverent register. The tone is warm, witty and comforting rather than competitive. Its episodic format means any episode can be watched alone. Fans of America's Test Kitchen and Ugly Delicious will find resonance in its blend of culinary expertise and food history, while viewers who enjoy quirky educational TV will feel at home in its offbeat, affectionate world.
