## Synopsis

Liquidation (2007) is a Russian crime drama series created by Sergei Ursuliak for Russia-1. It follows chief of criminal investigations David Gotsman (Vladimir Mashkov), a dogged detective who has sworn that a thief must go to prison, but only lawfully so. Opposing him is a sly and dangerous criminal figure played by Mikhail Porechenkov, while Konstantin Lavronenko and Sergey Makovetskiy anchor the supporting cast of investigators and underworld players. Over a single season of fourteen episodes, the engine is a hunt for organized gangsters, with each episode built from interrogations, stakeouts, and the constant pressure of keeping evidence clean enough to survive a courtroom. Set in post war Moscow, the series carries a gritty, tense, and morally weighted atmosphere, where bureaucratic institutions and street violence press in from every side. It is a self-contained, serialized police story that reworks the legacy of the beloved The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed, and fans of that classic, along with viewers who enjoy gritty crime procedurals such as The Wire, will find resonance in its character driven investigations and ethical tension.
