## Synopsis

Rich Man, Poor Woman (2012) is a Japanese romantic comedy series that aired on Fuji TV across a single eleven-episode season. Self-taught web developer Toru Hyuga (Shun Oguri) has built his way into billionaire status by founding an IT company, while Makoto (Satomi Ishihara) cannot land a steady job in a difficult market. Their personalities are radically different, and the early episodes are built from sharp clashes that grow out of his eccentric, self-absorbed habits and her stubborn determination. Supporting characters, including the business associate Kosuke Asahina (Arata Iura), add friction and a wider circle of professional and personal entanglements. Each episode moves through workplace misunderstandings, reluctant partnerships and small domestic mishaps, so the story advances through accumulated shared experiences rather than a single large plot. The mood is light, breezy and warmly comic, with romantic tension building steadily beneath the bickering. Set in contemporary Tokyo, the show offers a glossy, modern take on the class-gap romance that fans of Boys Over Flowers and Hana Yori Dango will recognize, with a dash of the tech-world absurdity found in Silicon Valley. It suits viewers who want an easygoing, feel-good romance with a quirky edge.
