## Synopsis

Hunter x Hunter (1999-2001) is a Japanese animated shonen adventure series created as an anime adaptation of the manga and produced by Nippon Animation for Fuji TV. Gon Freecss (voiced by Junko Takeuchi) discovers that his father, the celebrated Hunter Ging, is alive after all, and he sets out to pass the brutal Hunter Examination and earn the same elite license. Along the way he forms a bond with the assassin-raised Killua Zoldyck (Kanako Mitsuhashi), and the two face rivals and dangerous opponents including Kurapika (Yuki Kaida), Leorio Paradinight (Hozumi Goda) and the unpredictable Hisoka Morow (Hiroki Takahashi). Each episode is built around a challenge, a trial or a fight in which strategy, special abilities and psychological play decide the outcome. The 62-episode run moves through an exam, a sprawling tournament-style world and a serialized quest for answers, with the tone shifting from playful to tense. Fans of Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho will find resonance in its shonen energy, loyal friendship and escalating power battles. The series is a single season and its story is left unresolved.
