## Synopsis

The In-Laws (2008-2021) is a Ukrainian family sitcom produced for the 1+1 and Inter networks and created in the Russian-language tradition of long-running domestic comedy. Built around a single premise, it follows two sets of grandparents who are thrown together when the parents of a young girl leave on vacation. Ivan Stepanovich (Fyodor Dobronravov) and Valentina Petrovna (Tatyana Kravchenko) represent the urban in-laws, while Olga Nikolaevna (Lyudmila Artemeva) and her family from the countryside bring a different rhythm of life to the household. Masha Kovalev (Inna Korolyova) and Maxim Kovalev (Daniil Belykh) sit at the center of the younger generation, caught between their parents' expectations and the grandparents' rivalry. Each episode runs on the friction of everyday habits, meals, holidays and small domestic disputes, escalating into comic standoffs that resolve with affection. The series runs across seven seasons and 73 episodes, with a fan base that rates the early and middle run most highly. Its tone is warm, breezy and gently sardonic, with a comforting focus on family ties. Fans of Everybody Loves Raymond, Till Death and Married... with Children will find similar pleasure in its comedy of in-law friction and domestic affection.
