## Synopsis

Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon (2012-2021) is a Japanese medical drama series broadcast on TV Asahi, running seven seasons and 69 episodes. Ryoko Yonekura plays Michiko Daimon, a freelance surgeon sent through a questionable doctor placement service to hospitals where veteran doctors have retired and wards are short-staffed. Dressed in flashy clothes and refusing any chore that does not need a medical license, she is brilliantly skilled and indifferent to office politics, yet keeps getting pulled into it. Yuki Uchida plays the anesthetist who works alongside her. Each episode is a case of the week set inside a new institution, with its arrogant hierarchy and outdated director, and the pleasure lies in the breezy, irreverent tone and the satisfying deflation of pompous authority. Fans of House, The Good Doctor and Hero will find resonance in its blend of brilliant outsider energy and workplace satire.
