## Synopsis

GTO (2012-2014) is a Japanese comedy drama series created by Masaki Fukasawa for Fuji TV, adapted from the manga. Ryohei Kurosawa plays Eikichi Onizuka, a former legendary bike gang member who lands a job as a teacher at Meishu Academy after befriending a bullied student. Yusuke Yamamoto appears as Toshiyuki Saejima, while Miori Takimoto plays teacher Azusa Fuyutsuki and Yu Shirota plays Ryuji Danma. The engine of the show is Onizuka's brash, physical and deeply personal approach to problem solving, as he takes on the most troubled class in the school, Class 2-4, and tackles one issue after another, from bullying to family pressure to adolescent confusion. Each episode unfolds as a self-contained mix of slapstick and sincerity, with the larger arc of the class gradually forming a bond. The series runs across two seasons of eleven episodes each, set in a contemporary Japanese high school with the texture of everyday school life. Its tone blends raucous humor with earnest emotion, and fans of Kinpachi-sensei and Dragon Zakura will find resonance in its rebellious educator and underdog classroom.
