## Synopsis

Legal High (2012-2013) is a Japanese legal comedy-drama series created for Fuji TV. Masato Sakai plays Kensuke Komikado, a lawyer with a big personality whose unorthodox courtroom tactics and sharp sarcasm keep his colleagues off balance. Yui Aragaki plays Machiko Mayuzumi, a straightlaced recent law graduate who is pulled into his orbit as he tackles a steady run of varied legal cases across Japan. The engine of the show is the friction between Komikado's theatrical, sometimes ethically slippery methods and Mayuzumi's rule-bound idealism, with each episode built around a fresh case that gives the pair room to clash and to slowly find common ground. Across two seasons totaling twenty-one episodes, the series balances courtroom showmanship with workplace comedy, delivering brisk, witty exchanges alongside moments of genuine moral ambiguity. Its tone is sardonic and playful, with a warm undercurrent of respect between its mismatched leads. Fans of Suits, Ally McBeal and Ace Attorney will find resonance in its eccentric lawyer, quirky office dynamics and case-driven structure. Set in contemporary Japan, it offers a distinctly Japanese take on the legal drama.
