## Synopsis

Blast of Tempest (2012-2013) is a Japanese animated fantasy series created for MBS, based on the manga Zetsuen no Tempest and produced by BONES. The story follows Samon Kusaribe's scheming, which begins when he stuffs the greatest sorceress of the Kusaribe family, Hakaze Kusaribe (Miyuki Sawashiro), into a barrel and banishes her to a deserted island. Her exile is tied to a struggle between the Tree of Origins, which the family guards, and the Tree of World's End, a rival power over destruction that Samon seeks to resurrect. Around this conflict, the series pairs the magical bloodlines and rivalries of its sorcerer families with a love triangle among its young cast, with Koki Uchiyama, Kana Hanazawa, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga voicing key figures in the tangled relationships. Its episodes move from clashes of magic to personal betrayals, and the broader arc carries the weight of a world bent by catastrophe. Set in a near future marked by ruin, the series is an anime fantasy with an elegiac, tragic register, tinged with romance and revenge. Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Blue Exorcist and Attack on Titan will find resonance in its blend of sorcery, doomed loyalties and a bleak, emotionally heavy world.
