Mixed audience reception: the premise of an enclosed town under a mysterious dome draws interest, but the series is faulted for stretched plotting and uneven storytelling across its run.

## Synopsis

Under the Dome (2013-2015) is an American science fiction mystery series created by Brian K. Vaughan for CBS, adapted from Stephen King's novel. When a rural Maine town is suddenly sealed beneath an enormous transparent barrier, Dale Barbara (Mike Vogel), a former army captain drifting through town, becomes the reluctant leader of the trapped residents. Julia Shumway (Rachelle Lefevre), a local reporter, digs into what the dome is and who benefits from its existence, while Big Jim Rennie (Dean Norris), the town's ruthless second selectman, tightens his grip on the town's dwindling supplies and power. The engine of the show is the struggle to survive a closed community while the outside world's military and government tries to break through. Each episode mixes investigation, tense confrontations and shifting alliances as food, medicine and trust run short. The story unfolds across three seasons of serialized mysteries with a steady stream of revelations and escalating conflicts. Set in the present day American small town, it carries a tense, paranoid atmosphere shaped by claustrophobia and moral compromise. Fans of Lost, Twin Peaks and Fringe will find resonance in its blend of ensemble drama, eerie mystery and political intrigue, and the series rewards viewers who enjoy following a sprawling puzzle.
