## Synopsis

The Big Comfy Couch (1992-2006) is a Canadian children's television series created by Cheryl Wagner for public television in the United States and YTV in Canada. Loonette the Clown (Alyson Court) shares her cozy couch with her dolly Molly, and together they tackle everyday problems that young children recognize from home and school. Each episode is built around a single theme or lesson, so a typical half hour moves at a gentle, unhurried pace, mixing slapstick clowning, playful songs and puppet-style interaction with patient explanation. Principal cast members include Bob Stutt, Taborah Johnson and Ramona Gilmour-Darling, with Bob Mills and Gary Farmer appearing in supporting roles. Across seven seasons and 101 episodes, the show runs as a case-of-the-week format rather than a continuing story, so viewers can drop in at any point. The tone is warm, comforting and silly, with an emphasis on kindness, sharing and handling teasing. Its setting is a bright, unfussy domestic space rather than a specific historical place, and fans of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Sesame Street will find the same nurturing, educational spirit here. It is a classic gentle choice for preschool viewing and family rewatches.
