## Synopsis

Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots (2013-2021) is an American soap opera series created by Tyler Perry for OWN. Set in an opulent mansion in Savannah, Georgia, it follows the wealthy Cryer family and the household staff who work for them. Renee Lawless plays Katheryn Cryer and Jaclyn Betham plays Amanda Cryer, while Tika Sumpter plays Candace Young and Tyler Lepley plays Benny Young, with John Schneider as Jim Cryer. The engine of the show is the tangle between the powerful family and the hired help who depend on it, where rivalries, hidden loyalties and private schemes spill across dinner tables, offices and courtrooms. Each episode is built from interlocking storylines that keep returning to money, status and romance. The series runs across eight seasons and 198 episodes in a serialized format where ongoing feuds carry forward from one season to the next. Its tone is melodramatic and emotionally heightened, with moments of anger, betrayal and sudden reversal balanced by warmer domestic scenes. Fans of Dynasty, Empire and Revenge will find resonance in its glossy primetime soap energy and its focus on power inside a single household. The storytelling foregrounds class, family loyalty and the costs of ambition, making it a sprawling, binge-friendly drama.
