## Synopsis

Masters of the Air (2024) is a United States war drama miniseries created by John Orloff for Apple TV. Across nine hour-long episodes, it follows the young airmen of the 100th Bomb Group flying heavy bombers over Nazi-occupied Europe during World War II. Austin Butler plays Maj. Gale 'Buck' Cleven, a squadron leader whose duty clashes with the fear and exhaustion of his crews, while Callum Turner plays Maj. John 'Bucky' Egan and Anthony Boyle plays Harry Crosby, each caught between camaraderie and the rising cost of each mission. The engine of the story is the bombing run itself: flak bursts, failing engines, and the constant question of who will not make it back to the airfield. Episodes move between the cramped aircraft and the rough barracks life on the English base, building a portrait of brotherhood forged under fire. The tone is sober and harrowing, with a patriotic earnestness that some viewers find sentimental. Fans of Band of Brothers and The Pacific will find resonance in its large-scale, war-epic treatment of ordinary soldiers facing extraordinary danger.
