## Synopsis

In the Flesh (2013-2014) is a British television supernatural drama series created by Dominic Mitchell for BBC Three. Set in a small Lancashire town after thousands of the dead have risen and nearly destroyed the country, the series follows Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry), a young man who has been treated with a cure and must return home to his family. Kieren's parents Sue Walker (Marie Critchley) and Steve Walker (Steve Cooper) and his sister Jem Walker (Harriet Cains) struggle with grief, fear and suspicion as he tries to live among the neighbours who remember what he was. Local tensions are sharpened by a community that has formed a militia, and by the ex-soldier Bill Macy (Steve Evets) and the local vicar Oddie (Kenneth Cranham). The series runs for two seasons across nine episodes, a short, character-driven serial. Each episode is built from domestic confrontations, pub conversations and the quiet indignities of rehabilitation, and the mood is bleak, intimate and melancholic. Fans of The Returned and The Walking Dead will find resonance in its grounded British dread and its focus on the cost of coming back.
