## Synopsis

The Witches of Calenda (2012-2013) is a Spanish supernatural mystery series created by David Bermejo and Laura Belloso for Antena 3. Judge Sara Cruz (Belén Rueda) moves with her teenage daughter Leire (Lucía Guerrero) to the village of Calenda, hoping to rebuild a fractured family life. Her plans unravel when her husband vanishes, and the disappearance becomes the first of a chain of shocking events that convince her the quiet village hides something far darker. Investigator Raúl Pando (Daniel Grao) and others in the community become entangled in her search, as suspicion spreads and every neighbor seems to hold a secret. The two-season run, spanning twenty ninety-minute episodes, builds its engine around a determined protagonist confronting a community that closes ranks against her. Its tone is eerie and paranoid, with a slow-burn dread that gives way to visceral horror imagery. Fans of Twin Peaks and Wayward Pines will find resonance in its small town dread, its layered secrets, and its supernatural undercurrents, delivered as an accessible serialized mystery with a strong Spanish television flavor.
