## Synopsis

The Witch (2011) is a Colombian telenovela created by Germán Castro Caycedo for Caracol TV, adapted from his own novel of the same name. Flora Martínez stars as Amanda Mora, the woman known as La Bruja, with Andrés Parra as Jaime Cruz and Andrés Toro as Leonel anchoring a principal cast that also includes Vicky Hernández as Clemencia de Mejia, Natalia Jerez as Claudia Mejía and Luis Fernando Montoya as Monseñor. Across a single run of twenty-nine episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the series is a contained serial built on romance, rivalry and the weight of a reputation that runs ahead of its heroine. Its engine is the long-form soap tradition: relationships tangle, loyalties shift, and each episode leans on emotional confrontation to pull viewers into the next. The show plays in a heightened, melodramatic register, mixing sincere pathos with a lingering mystical aura across its Colombian setting. Fans of Yo soy Betty, la fea, Sin tetas no hay paraíso and Pasión de gavilanes will find the same warm, sprawling emotional appetite here, a telenovela made for sustained, familiar pleasure rather than surprise.
