## Synopsis

Jo (2013) is a French-produced English-language police procedural series created by René Balcer, with writers Franck Ollivier and Malina Detcheva, and broadcast on TF1. Across eight forty-five-minute episodes, it follows veteran detective Jo St-Clair, played by Jean Reno, as he works murder cases in Paris. Jill Hennessy plays Karyn, a colleague who helps shape the investigations, while the ensemble includes Orla Brady, Heida Reed and Wunmi Mosaku in supporting roles. The engine of the show is the methodical, case-by-case hunt for killers, with each episode built around a fresh body, interviews, forensic clues and the personal pressures that accompany a demanding job. Its single season tells one complete investigative arc rather than an open-ended run. The tone is measured and serious, with a cool, grounded atmosphere and moments of tension rather than spectacle. Fans of Law & Order, Engrenages and Spiral will find resonance in its procedural rhythm, European crime textures and emphasis on the human cost of police work.
