## Synopsis

Josie and the Pussycats (1970-1971) is an American animated Saturday morning series created by Dan DeCarlo and Richard Goldwater for CBS, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and based on the Archie Comics characters. The show follows the all-girl pop band Josie and the Pussycats, led by level-headed lead singer and guitarist Josie, with intelligent tambourinist Valerie and air-headed drummer Melody. The group tours the world with their entourage, and each episode drops them into strange adventures, spy capers and mysteries. Their cowardly manager Alexander Cabot III, his conniving sister Alexandra and her cat Sebastian supply much of the comic friction, while muscular roadie Alan rounds out the crew. The engine is simple and breezy: the band performs, gets tangled in a scheme, and finds its way out with music and wit. Sixteen episodes made up the single season, which aired in the 1970-71 television season and was rerun for years afterward.
