## Synopsis

Daktari (1966-1969) is an American family drama series created by Ivan Tors and Art Arthur, broadcast on CBS and produced by MGM Television with Ivan Tors Productions. Marshall Thompson plays Dr. Marsh Tracy, a veterinarian running the fictional Wameru Study Centre for Animal Behaviour in East Africa, with Hari Rhodes as his colleague Mike Makula, Yale Summers as Jack Dane, and Cheryl Miller as Paula Tracy. The engine of the show is simple: the team takes in injured and troubled wild animals, studies their behavior, and tries to restore them to the wild, while local villagers and visitors bring their own problems to the station. Each hour-long episode is self-contained and built around a single animal case, with a sense of cheerful curiosity and occasional suspense. The four seasons, totaling 89 episodes, form an episodic children's adventure rather than a serialized story. Its wholesome, informative register and African savanna setting make it a comfortable choice for families, and fans of Flipper and Lassie will find the same warm animal-centered tone. Set in 1960s Kenya-style East Africa, it captures the era's fascination with wildlife on television.
