## Synopsis

Chosen Home (2025) is a Japanese miniseries created for Nippon TV, a ten-episode offbeat romantic comedy with a gentle, warm register. Mitsuhiro Oikawa plays Genichi Hatano, an aloof teacher, while Yuya Tegoshi plays Saku Sakuta, a clumsy romantic who decides, late in life, to stop missing out on love. Tamaki Shiratori plays Hotaru Kusunoki, a troubled teen whose presence pulls the household together. The engine of the show is the awkward attempt of an older man to win over a reluctant partner while the three share a crowded apartment building life. Each episode moves through everyday domestic situations, small misunderstandings and quiet confessions rather than grand plot turns. The story leans into the discomfort and comedy of an unlikely household forming around a child who has been left without support, and the relationships deepen through shared meals, chores and tentative trust. Its tone is wistful, cozy and sincerely funny, with a focus on belonging and the courage to start again. Viewers who enjoy domestic slice of life comedies and gentle romcoms in the vein of Dinner for Fiends and Shiawase Sou will find resonance here. The series runs as one ten-episode season of about forty-six minutes each.
