## Synopsis

Scrubs (2001-2010) is an American network dramedy created by Bill Lawrence for NBC and ABC. Zach Braff plays John "J.D." Dorian, a young doctor learning medicine and friendship at Sacred Heart Hospital, where he narrates his days with imagined fantasy sequences. Donald Faison plays his best friend Christopher Turk, Sarah Chalke plays fellow intern Elliot Reid, and John C. McGinley plays the caustic attending physician Perry Cox, whose harsh mentorship drives much of the friction. Ken Jenkins plays the hospital administrator Bob Kelso, and Neil Flynn plays the janitor. The engine of the series is a young doctor trying to find his footing among patients, colleagues, and rivals, while each episode mixes goofy gags with sincere moments about loyalty and growing up. The show runs for nine seasons with 181 episodes, moving through a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week structure. Its workplace comedy has the warmth of a sitcom and the stakes of a medical drama, with a bright, irreverent tone that turns sentimental without tipping into cynicism. Set in a contemporary American hospital, it sits comfortably alongside MASH and Community for viewers who enjoy ensemble friendships and absurdist workplace humor. Fans of The Office and Community will find resonance in its blend of sincerity and absurdity.
